✨ The Role

As Engineering Manager for Payments Infrastructure, you’ll lead the team building the backbone of Bitpanda’s financial ecosystem. You’ll:

  • Scale payments systems to support 25M+ users across PSP integrations and microservices.
  • Drive technical vision for real-time, high-volume transaction processing.
  • Mentor engineers in a fast-paced, agile environment.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

  • Architect resilient payment systems (Kafka, microservices, IaC).
  • Balance innovation vs. technical debt in collaboration with Product teams.

2. Team Development

  • Grow a high-performing engineering team through mentorship and career planning.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, feedback, and continuous improvement.

3. Cross-Functional Execution

  • Lead agile rituals (sprint planning, retrospectives) to deliver iteratively.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align payments infrastructure with company goals.

🔍 Who We’re Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

  • 5+ years in payments/fintech engineering with scalable system design.
  • 3+ years leading teams in agile, high-stakes environments.
  • Expertise in PHP/Java, Apache Kafka, DevOps, and IaC.
  • Empathetic leadership – you thrive in ambiguity and inspire through change.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with real-time transaction processing.
  • Knowledge of crypto payment rails.
